For our 8th episode of the Women in Dentistry podcast, we have Dr. Carol Gomez Summerhays. She was the 152nd and fourth female President of the American Dental Association. She is a past president of the California Dental Association, the largest state dental association in the U.S. Currently, she serves as a Councillor for the FDI World Federation of Dentists and Chair of the Board of Councilors for the Ostrow School of Dentistry at USC.

Dr. Summerhays is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists, Pierre Fauchard Academy, Academy of Dentistry International, and the Academy of General Dentistry. She has earned a Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry and the AGD Life Long Learning and Service Recognition Award.

National awards include the Pierre Fauchard Gold Medal, the Lucy Hobbs Award from the American Association of Women Dentists, and the Ellis Island Medal of Honor. She is the recipient of the University of Southern California Alumni Merit Award. She has been honored by the Salvation Army “Portraits in Philanthropy” and by the Girls Scouts of America “One of San Diego’s 10 Cool Women”. For our 7th episode of the Women in Dentistry podcast, we have Dr. Laura Mach. She is a general dentist and certified Life Coach. She has pwned a thriving, successful practice for 13 years and continues to practice dentistry 3 days a week.

As the Leadership coach for Busy Dentists, Dr. Mach teaches practice owners to step into their leadership role with intention and a better understanding of human behavior. Once her clients understand human feelings and behavior, they have the tools to lead so much more effectively. Season 2 - The Women in Dentistry Podcast #6: Dr. Irene Marron-Tarrazzi

Welcome to season 2!

For our 6th episode of the Women in Dentistry podcast, we have Dr. Irene Marron-Tarrazzi. She is a Board Certified Periodontist based in Miami, Florida, was the first and youngest vice president of the American Dental Association. She has had many accomplishments including her recent awards as the 2018 Florida Dentist of the Year, and the 2017 National Lucy Hobbs Project Award “Woman-to-Watch”.

She owns a private practice in Miami, Florida. She is also a past member of the ADA New Dentist Committee, an alumna of the ADA Institute for Diversity in Leadership and a speaker for the ADA Success Program. Has served as president of the South Florida District Dental Association and treasurer of the FDA Political Action Committee.

Originally from Venezuela, Dr. Marron-Tarrazzi studied dentistry at the Universidad Central de Venezuela. She completed her post-doctoral training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she earned her Certificate in Periodontology and Master of Science degree, and in 2003, Dr. Marron- Tarrazzi earned her dental degree from Nova Southeastern University.

She founded Superior Seminar Solutions (SSS), a continuing education concierge company to provide solutions and support in all aspects of continuing education and meeting planning in the healthcare industry.

Season 2 - The Women in Dentistry Podcast #4: Ms. Pat Crane Ramsay

Welcome to season 2! 

 

For our 4th episode of the Women in Dentistry podcast, we have Ms. Pat Crane Ramsay.  Pat began her dental hygiene career in clinical practice after graduating from the Forsyth School for Dental Hygienists in 1966. After 22 years in clinical practice in dental offices in New Bedford and Fall River Massachusetts, Pat’s professional career expanded into a variety of areas. She is an experienced administrator with skills in operations management, event planning, volunteer support, friend and fundraising, health care, and public speaking. She possesses hands-on experience in social media and its importance in today’s world. 

 

Pat’s professional career also includes volunteer involvement in organized dental hygiene. She was instrumental in the development of the Southeastern component of the Massachusetts Dental Hygienists Association. She served on and chaired multiple MDHA committees, held multiple offices, including that of the President. Her involvement with the American Dental Hygienist’s Association included serving and chairing multiple committees and councils, serving as District I Trustee and President. She also served as the first chair person of the ADHA Institute for Oral Health which was created to provide educational scholarships, fellowships, research grants, and community service grants to dental hygienists throughout the country.
