Welcome to season 2!
For our 8th episode of the Women in Dentistry podcast, we have Dr. Carol Gomez Summerhays. She was the 152nd and fourth female President of the American Dental Association. She is a past president of the California Dental Association, the largest state dental association in the U.S. Currently, she serves as a Councillor for the FDI World Federation of Dentists and Chair of the Board of Councilors for the Ostrow School of Dentistry at USC.
Dr. Summerhays is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists, Pierre Fauchard Academy, Academy of Dentistry International, and the Academy of General Dentistry. She has earned a Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry and the AGD Life Long Learning and Service Recognition Award.
National awards include the Pierre Fauchard Gold Medal, the Lucy Hobbs Award from the American Association of Women Dentists, and the Ellis Island Medal of Honor. She is the recipient of the University of Southern California Alumni Merit Award. She has been honored by the Salvation Army “Portraits in Philanthropy” and by the Girls Scouts of America “One of San Diego’s 10 Cool Women”.
